ABOUT OUR GALLERY
Sandstone Gallery is a contemporary fine art gallery, celebrating almost 44 years of operation in the same location - the longest run of almost all of the art galleries on Laguna Beach’s Historic Gallery Row. Since our inception in 1981, the gallery has operated as a collective of artists working together and making all decisions regarding the operation of the gallery space. Beyond the pride we take in our amazing and ever-changing collection of work, we are known for our welcoming, relaxing contemporary gallery atmosphere.
Our current group of 17 resident fine artists exhibit artwork representing a variety of original contemporary art styles in oil, acrylic, mixed media, monoprint, woodprint, collagraph, ceramic work, and sculpture. Some of our artists primarily show their work locally, while others have national and international presence. Eleven of the 17 artists we represent share a history of exhibiting in the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts, one of the most prestigious juried fine art shows in the nation.
In addition to the work of our resident artists, each month the gallery hosts an exhibition of an invited guest artist in our Skylight Room, a naturally lit room located on the upper level in the center of the gallery.
We are located in North Laguna Beach on Pacific Coast Highway. Reflecting the beauty and character of Laguna Beach in the 1940s, the gallery is easily recognized by our building’s original cedar shake shingles, large turquoise awning, and our homey, craftsman-style architecture. Inside is a modern, contemporary style, a perfect complement to our collection of fine art.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. In addition, we are happy to open the gallery anytime by appointment, or we can bring work to your home for personal viewing. We’re also open for Laguna Beach First Thursday Art Walk (the first Thursday of each month) from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
